FAN & CORSET  defies convention as cabaret and atelier.

The fan is an extension of the arm, shifting open to obscure the user from view.  A sense of mystery and excitement arise from these moments of reveal.  Through a similar language, the corset cinches around the body, caught in a moment of beautiful tension with an air of discomfort as the form is molded through this force.

This pair of buildings explore the connection between the acts of shifting and cinching.  In doing so, they provide the neighborhood with a new language of architecture promoting further convergence of differing programs.  As Artist Residence, Cabaret and Burlesque House, Offices, and Gallery become Interconnected spaces, fostering growth for a community that has prided itself on counterculture.
